RESIST Advanced Barrier Repair Moisturizer features a specialized moisture complex that delivers water where skin needs it most for optimal hydration. A powerful blend of five skin-identical ceramides & cholesterol replenishes skin’s barrier, prevents water loss & delivers long-lasting moisture. Palmitoyl tripeptide-5 helps support firmness & elasticity for a youthful look and feel. Nourishing watermelon seed oil helps maintain hydration and soothes skin.

The packaging for the full-sized product is 36.51% recycled plastic (by weight).

This silky, lightweight moisturizer replenishes skin by promoting its own ceramides to self-hydrate, so your skin’s natural barrier can function at its best all the time. Helps protect natural collagen levels for firmer-looking skin and is clinically proven to reduce the look of wrinkles with continued use.

Once or twice daily, apply a small amount to face and neck. For daytime, follow with SPF 30+.

What’s the difference between the original RESIST Barrier Repair Moisturizer with Retinol and new RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer?

While both have a similar texture, one of the main differences is that our new formula doesn’t contain retinol. In addition, our new RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer is now for all skin types and has even more targeted ingredients to help with concerns related to barrier support such as dryness, sensitivity, redness, itching and dullness. The new formula also adds non-fragrant watermelon seed oil, whose linoleic acid content is the building block of skin’s own ceramides. Lastly, the tripeptide-5 in the new moisturizer is used at maximum level for multi-level targeting of wrinkles + loss of firmness.

How is the RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer different from Omega+ Complex Moisturizer?

Our Omega+ Complex Moisturizer contains omegas 3,6 and 9, shea butter, amino acids and ceramides. It’s ideal for those with concerns of dryness and dehydration. Our RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer contains ceramides, cholesterol, tripeptide-5 and watermelon seed oil to help repair and support a healthy skin barrier, support existing and stimulate new collagen for firmer skin, prevent transepidermal water loss and deliver lasting moisture.

When would we recommend the RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer vs the Omega+ Complex Moisturizer?

We recommend RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer if you have concerns around dryness and signs of aging, especially loss of firmness. If aging skin is not your primary concern but dryness/dehydration is, we recommend Omega+ Complex Moisturizer. Some may enjoy using both; for example, Barrier Repair in the warmer-to-cooler months and Omega Moisturizer during the coldest/least humid months.

How does the RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer differ from other moisturizers Paula’s Choice offers?

The RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer is the first moisturizer in our RESIST line that’s made for all skin types. This formula has a powerful blend of 5 skin-identical ceramides, lecithin & cholesterol to replenish skin’s barrier, prevent water loss & deliver long-lasting moisture. Palmitoyl tripeptide-5 helps support the look of firmness & elasticity for stronger, younger-looking skin. Nourishing watermelon seed oil is rich in fatty acids, the building blocks of ceramides. In addition, this formula contains an advanced moisture complex that keeps water where skin needs it most for lightweight, all-day hydration.

I used to use the RESIST Barrier Repair Moisturizer with Retinol – since it’s been discontinued, what should I use now?

Our award-winning RESIST Intensive Repair Cream, which also contains 0.01% retinol, is a great option for those with dry skin types. The CLINICAL Ceramide-Enriched Firming Moisturizer can also be a great option. It has 0.1% retinol and vitamin C to help firm, smooth and brighten skin. Our new RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer can also be a great option for you if you’re looking for an anti-aging moisturizer. While it does not contain retinol, it does contain barrier-strengthening ingredients along with tripeptide-5, which helps target fine lines and loss of firmness.

Is the RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer good for rosacea-prone or sensitive skin?

Yes, the RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer is packed with barrier-strengthening and soothing ingredients that are suitable for those prone to rosacea, redness, sensitivity, dryness, tightness and itchiness. If you’re currently using a prescription for rosacea, we recommend consulting your doctor for guidance on incorporating this moisturizer into your routine.

Is the RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer good for acne-prone skin?

It depends. If you have acne-prone skin that’s also very oily, you probably won’t like the emollient texture of this moisturizer. But it can be excellent for those with acne and dry or combination skin whose barrier is being impacted by topical prescription acne medication(s), particularly when used alongside our CLEAR anti-acne line. If you have acne + signs of aging, we recommend trying our RESIST Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator before trying RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer.

What is the advanced hydrating complex in the RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer?

The advanced hydrating complex is a specialized blend of ingredients that occur as part of skin’s Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF). With age and accumulated environmental damage, skin becomes less able to replenish these hydrating substances, leading to dryness and dullness. Lack of these moisturizing factors also impact skin cell turnover (causing it to slow down) and what’s known as barrier homeostasis, i.e., the ability to maintain proper water balance in skin’s uppermost layers. Key ingredients in the advanced hydrating complex include sodium PCA, sodium hyaluronate, glycerin, urea and trehalose.

Is it okay to use the RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer around my eyes?

The texture of the RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer makes an excellent eye cream, and its gentle, barrier-fortifying formula is clinically proven to be non-irritating. If you desire more hydration, consider our RESIST Anti-Aging Eye Cream (or layer it over the Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer). It has a thicker, more substantial rich cream texture that remains on the surface of skin overnight and was specially formulated to address key signs of aging around the eye including dryness, sun damage and loss of firmness. Whichever product you choose for your eye area, be sure to follow with a product rated SPF 30 or greater during the daytime. Protecting the eye area from sun damage is critical for younger-looking skin and visibly improving dark circles.

Can you use the RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer with vitamin C?

Yes, you can use the RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer with vitamin C. Research indicates that vitamin C works well with other beneficial anti-aging ingredients including niacinamide, retinol, peptides (except copper peptides, which Paula’s Choice does not use), and exfoliating acids. Use this moisturizer with other vitamin C products to enhance results by strengthening and protecting skin's barrier.

Where does the RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer fit into my routine and how often should you apply this product?

The RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer can be applied up to twice per day, in your AM and PM routines. When using in the PM, apply the RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer as the final step in your routine after cleansing, toning, exfoliating, and applying any treatments. When using in the AM, always follow with SPF 30+.

Is it safe to use the RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

The ingredients in the RESIST Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer are generally considered safe to use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. However, if you’re uncertain about starting a new anti-aging product or ingredients, check with your physician and follow their advice.
